Nothing Today

Tried again today, but nothing to say.

To make a mountain of your life
Is just a choice
But I never learned enough
To listen to the voice that told me
Always love, Hate will get you every time
Always love, Don't wait til the finish line

Ouch!

I think that I sprained my middle right finger. Typing is killer. Oops

All your life you are told the things you cannot do. All your life they will say you're not good enough or strong enough or talented enough; they will say you're the wrong height or the wrong weight or the wrong type to play this or be this or achieve this. THEY WILL TELL YOU NO, a thousand times no, until all the no's become meaningless. All your life they will tell you no, quite firmly and very quickly.
AND YOU WILL TELL THEM YES.

Hopefully this applies to typing.

I am so bored lately, I have literally nothing to say. I think about blogging all the time. I don't do it, I don't really have much to say. So let's raise a glass to next week, with the hope that that promise of inspiration will strike!

I'm Back

That's right people! I am back in the blog world. To be honest, I even don't know where I have been. You would think that when one makes a promise and public as this one, to write, each and every day, that she would at least follow through for a little while. Well, obviously I didn't. And it wasn't because I wasn't writing. I just wasn't writing to you, mostly to me. So there.

But yes, for all of those keeping me in check, probably just myself, I have been writing, frequently. Not everyday, but frequently. But lately, it's been so abstract, not really anything tangible to share, that posting it here would have just been some sad attempt at me writing something that tries to have meaning, but really doesn't. Welcome to the blogosphere world of the 21st century.

I am trying to stay away from that. Here, at brittanyburkhalter.com you get the cold hard facts. I bring to you the coolest points of the days happenings! Who am I kidding. Once in a great while i'll come up with something cool that I saw or found, or maybe i'll write something that on some level is interesting to the general public... but no guarantees. That's why I write here, and not for something else, right?

So get ready, I am back in full force to share my mediocrity with you all. And please, don't feel bad for me, calling myself mediocre and all. Because honestly, that's where I am right now. I'll be beyond mediocre soon, maybe even great, but right now, I am learning and honing, and taking it all in. Everyone has to hit the middle before the top!

Alright, to wrap this up and not make it all about me.... I just finished reading the three books that make up The Hunger Games trilogy. If you are a girl, or maybe even a boy, but probably you should be a girl, go get a hold of these right now. I don't care if you don't like to read or you don't have time. These books will solve both of these problems. I posted them on the books tab so no excuses. These are like the best things that I have ever read. (Don't take that too literally.) Read them, read them, read them.... Read them now!!!

Strive for this!

Nothing I do makes me better than anyone else.

Harry Potter

I used to think that my life right now is too boring to blog about, but who am I kidding, I have tons of great stuff.

Fun fact...I have been reading Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone all summer. And I just can't seem to get into it. I am trying, but really all that it is doing right now is backlogging all the books that I have that I do want to read. I have about 20 books waiting for their covers to be cracked. Books that should be read in the summer when the weather is all hot, that alas, may have to wait for next year.

So, Harry Potter, please help me finish you. I am trying, really. And this is just the first one!

Courage!

Exercise?

I have restarted my exercise regimen this week. For those of you who don't know, I loathe working out. Going to the gym, or worse, running... makes me want to die. I mean, there are few things that I hate more than running. When I run, all that I can think about is how much I hate it.

So, here beings my battle.... again. Still trying to get down to smaller size since my last "going out with a bang" semester of college where I took The Freshman 15 to a whole new level, The Senior 20. I think that I can credit it all to that large bowl of Moe's queso and three bags of chips at three in the morning. Yeah, that was it.

Running, I hate it. Actually, I was running the day before yesterday, and I saw this girl in a blue (plastic) soccer jersey, and immediately, I was transported back to my own soccer practice, which in that moment, I could feel exactly what I felt all those years ago - how much I hate to run.

Twice this week I have been running. I take my dog, which is cardio keeping her up with me in itself, (not because I am fast, actually I am incredibly slow, all my running buddies have ditched me), and I run, usually for at a max for ten minutes. Then I get tired, and use her need to go to the bathroom as an excuse to all of those people who are watching me, for me to in fact, stop running.

I've been doing some reading on the subject actually. John Krasinski says that I should run for about 20 minutes a day to stay in shape. Jenna Fischer says 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of weight training. I think that my answer lies somewhere in the middle.

I am going to start as slow as I want, and work up to as high as I can go. How is that for a goal. Today, I did some jumping jacks, 3 sets of 15 sit-ups, and then ran for the duration of Waka Waka, and then sprinted/walked/job to In the Ayer. Not bad for a days work.

Hoping tomorrow to go buy a jump rope and to keep the cardio up. I'll keep you posted, but really please feel free to pass and ideas my way... that includes words of encouragement :)
